bindles

Tramp's tied belongings

Bindles are small packets or bundles, especially of drugs wrapped in paper or plastic for individual sale.

The word comes from bundle and originally meant a hobo's belongings tied in cloth and carried on a stick.

That image persists in cartoons, but the drug sense now dominates: The dealer had a dozen bindles of heroin in his pocket.
