big blind

Mandatory poker wager

In poker, the big blind is a forced bet placed by the player two seats to the left of the dealer before any cards are dealt.

It's typically twice the amount of the small blind and helps ensure there's money in the pot to play for.

The term also refers to the player in that position: I'm in the big blind this hand.

The blinds rotate clockwise after each hand, so every player takes a turn posting them.
