benzylamine
Toluene-derived nitrogen compound
Benzylamine is an organic compound consisting of an amine group attached to a benzyl group—essentially ammonia with one hydrogen replaced by a benzene ring with a methylene bridge.
It's a colorless liquid with a strong, unpleasant odor, used in organic synthesis as a building block for pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other chemicals.
Like other primary amines, it reacts readily with acids and carbonyl compounds.
