band camp
Rehearsal for marchers
Band camp is an intensive summer program where student musicians practice marching band routines and music for the upcoming school year.
The phrase gained cultural currency from the 1999 film *American Pie*, where "this one time, at band camp" became a punchline suggesting awkward or mildly transgressive adolescent experiences.
Now often used ironically to reference nerdy enthusiasm or unlikely misbehavior: What happens at band camp stays at band camp.
