ballcocks
Toilet tank regulators
A ballcock is a valve mechanism that controls water level in a tank, particularly toilet tanks and cisterns.
It uses a floating ball attached to an arm—as water rises, the ball rises with it and eventually shuts off the inflow.
The name combines ball (the float) with cock (a valve or tap).
The ballcock needs replacing; the toilet won't stop running.
