stop valves
Pipeline flow blockers
Stop valves are valves designed to halt or regulate flow through a pipe—water, gas, steam, or other fluids.
Unlike check valves that allow flow in only one direction, stop valves can be opened or closed manually to control flow as needed: Turn off the stop valve before replacing the faucet.
Common types include gate valves, globe valves, and ball valves.
