backlit screen
Self-illuminated viewing surface
A backlit screen is a display illuminated from behind, allowing visibility in low light conditions.
Most modern devices—laptops, smartphones, tablets—use backlit screens rather than relying on ambient light.
The backlight shines through the display panel, making text and images visible in darkness: I turned down the backlit screen to save battery.
