axe blade
Hatchet's cutting part
The axe blade is the cutting part of an axe—the flat, sharpened metal head that does the chopping.
The term distinguishes the blade from the handle (or helve).
In extended use, axe blade describes anything with that characteristic wedge shape: an axe blade of light cutting through the fog.
