automatic pistol
Self-reloading handheld firearm
An automatic pistol is a handgun that uses the energy from firing to eject the spent cartridge and load the next round, allowing rapid successive shots.
Despite the name, most are semiautomatic—firing once per trigger pull.
True automatic pistols fire continuously while the trigger is held.
He carried an automatic pistol in a shoulder holster.
