1911
Classic military sidearm
The 1911 is a semiautomatic pistol designed by John Browning and adopted by the U.S. military in 1911.
Its .45 caliber stopping power and reliable single-action mechanism made it the standard-issue sidearm through both World Wars and into the 1980s.
The design remains popular among civilian shooters and law enforcement: He carries a 1911 on his hip.
Often called a forty-five or Colt .45.
