art historians
Museum lecture givers
Art historians are scholars who study visual arts—painting, sculpture, architecture, and related forms—analyzing their historical development, cultural context, and meaning.
The field examines how artworks reflect and shape the societies that produced them: Art historians have reexamined the canon to include previously marginalized voices.
The work spans museum curation, academic research, and criticism.
