area map
Local navigation guide
An area map shows a specific geographic region rather than a single location or global view—typically a neighborhood, district, or bounded zone.
Common in video games, where the area map displays the player's immediate surroundings: Pull up the area map to find the nearest save point.
Also used for transit systems, parks, and campuses.
