alpha dogs
Dominant group members
Alpha dogs are the dominant individuals in a group—those who assert leadership and command deference from others.
The term comes from studies of wolf pack hierarchy, where the alpha leads.
It extends freely to humans: He's the alpha dog in that sales team.
Often shortened to simply alpha: total alpha energy.
