aerotitis

Flyer's ear pain

Aerotitis is inflammation of the middle ear caused by pressure changes, typically during air travel or diving.

The condition occurs when the eustachian tube fails to equalize pressure between the middle ear and the environment, causing pain, muffled hearing, and sometimes fluid buildup.

Also called barotitis or airplane ear.
