Winchesters
Classic American long guns
Winchesters are lever-action rifles manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, iconic in American frontier history.
The Winchester rifle became synonymous with the Old West: a cowboy with a Winchester across his saddle.
Winchester also refers to a shotgun gauge (the Winchester 12-gauge) or ammunition calibers the company developed.
In British English, a Winchester is a large bottle holding about 2.5 liters, named for the city's historical standard measures.
