Greedy mustached antihero
Wario is a character in Nintendo video games, introduced as an antagonist to Mario.
His name combines "Mario" with the Japanese word *warui* (bad or evil).
Where Mario is heroic and slim, Wario is greedy, crude, and heavyset—a funhouse-mirror villain.
He has since starred in his own game series, particularly the *WarioWare* minigame franchise.
The name sometimes describes someone as a corrupted or evil version of another: He's the Wario to my Mario.
