amiibo
Collectible game figures
Amiibo is Nintendo's line of interactive figurines and cards that communicate with video game consoles via near-field communication.
Players tap an amiibo to the console to unlock in-game content, store character data, or summon the character in compatible games: I scanned my Link amiibo to get bonus items.
The name blends "ami" (French for friend) with a stylized "bo." Collectors often display them as miniature statues regardless of gaming function.
