Vandal

Genseric's Germanic followers

A Vandal was a member of the Germanic tribe that sacked Rome in 455 CE, an event so associated with wanton destruction that their name became synonymous with it.

The Vandals migrated across Europe and into North Africa during the decline of the Roman Empire.

Historical references distinguish between the actual Vandals and the later generic sense of the word. (Lowercase vandal means someone who destroys property.)
