Twelve Apostles
Christ's chosen dozen
The Twelve Apostles were the primary disciples chosen by Jesus Christ to spread his teachings: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the Less, Thaddaeus, Simon, and Judas Iscariot (later replaced by Matthias).
The term extends to any small founding group of a movement or doctrine.
In Australia, the Twelve Apostles are limestone stacks off the Victorian coast—a major tourist attraction.
