Trust
Confidence in reliability
Trust is confidence that someone or something will act reliably or honestly.
You trust a friend with a secret, trust a bridge to hold your weight, trust your instincts.
As a noun, trust names this confidence, or an arrangement where one party holds assets for another's benefit: a family trust, trust fund.
To take something on trust is to accept it without proof.
A trust can also be a business combination that controls a market—hence antitrust laws.
I trust you'll do the right thing means I believe you will, with a note of expectation.
