Time of Troubles
Muscovite succession chaos
The Time of Troubles was a period of political crisis, famine, and foreign invasion in Russia from 1598 to 1613, following the end of the Rurik dynasty and preceding the Romanov era.
The phrase sometimes applies to other periods of severe national instability: The country entered its own time of troubles after the coup.
