The Joshua Tree

Irish band's breakthrough

The Joshua Tree is U2's 1987 album, widely considered their artistic peak and one of rock's landmark records.

Named for the distinctive desert tree of the American Southwest, the album explores American themes through songs like "With or Without You" and "Where the Streets Have No Name." I wore out my cassette of The Joshua Tree in high school.
