Silver Age

Post-golden flourishing

The Silver Age names several distinct historical periods.

In Greek mythology, it was the second of the ages of man, following the idyllic Golden Age.

In Latin literature, it designates the post-Augustan period of Roman writing.

Most commonly today, the Silver Age refers to American comic books from roughly 1956 to 1970, when superhero comics revived with updated characters: The Silver Age Flash debuted in Showcase #4. (Lowercase silver age is any secondary peak era.)
