Sergio Leone

Italian western filmmaker

Sergio Leone (1929–1989) was an Italian film director who created the Spaghetti Western genre with films like *A Fistful of Dollars* and *The Good, the Bad and the Ugly*.

His style—extreme close-ups, sparse dialogue, prolonged tension, and Ennio Morricone's scores—redefined the Western and influenced generations of filmmakers.

His name evokes operatic violence and mythic landscapes: a Sergio Leone standoff.
