Scud missile
Gulf War projectile
A Scud missile is a Soviet-designed short-range ballistic missile, widely exported and used in regional conflicts from the 1970s onward.
The name became familiar to Western audiences during the 1991 Gulf War, when Iraq fired Scuds at Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Scud now serves as a general term for crude but threatening tactical missiles: They launched another Scud at the capital.
