Schrodinger

Wave equation namesake

Schrödinger is the Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger (1887–1961), known for his foundational work in quantum mechanics.

His name appears most often in Schrödinger's cat, a thought experiment illustrating quantum superposition—a cat in a sealed box is simultaneously alive and dead until observed.

The scenario has become shorthand for any situation existing in two contradictory states at once: It's like Schrödinger's relationship—we're together and not together.
