Sacre Coeur
White Parisian basilica
Sacre Coeur is French for "sacred heart," referring to the heart of Jesus Christ in Roman Catholic devotion.
In English, the term usually means the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the white-domed church on Montmartre hill in Paris: We climbed the steps to Sacre Coeur at sunset.
The basilica, completed in 1914, is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
