Hedgehog's sharp spines
Quills is a 2000 biographical drama film about the Marquis de Sade, the notorious French aristocrat and writer whose works were so scandalous that his name gave us the word sadism.
The film stars Geoffrey Rush as de Sade, depicting his final years confined to an insane asylum where he continues writing despite attempts to silence him.
The title references the writing implements he obsessively uses to produce his transgressive literature.
