Northumbrians
Medieval English northerners
Northumbrians are people from Northumbria, a region in northeastern England comprising Northumberland and historically extending into adjacent areas.
The term also refers to the Anglo-Saxon inhabitants of the medieval kingdom of Northumbria, which stretched from the Humber to the Firth of Forth.
As an adjective, Northumbrian describes the dialect, culture, or characteristics of this region: Northumbrian speech preserves features lost elsewhere in English.
