Mongoloid
Outdated racial category
Mongoloid was one of three major racial categories in nineteenth- and twentieth-century anthropology, alongside Caucasoid and Negroid, supposedly encompassing peoples of East Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Americas.
This racial classification system has been abandoned by modern science as biologically meaningless and socially harmful.
The term also became associated with Down syndrome through outdated medical terminology, adding another layer of offensiveness.
Avoid in all contexts. (Lowercase mongoloid is the slur form now more commonly encountered.)
