Mohawk Nation
Keepers Eastern door
The Mohawk Nation is one of the six nations of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, historically occupying territory in present-day New York State and southeastern Canada.
Known as the "Keepers of the Eastern Door," the Mohawk people were positioned at the eastern boundary of the Confederacy's territory.
Today the Mohawk Nation maintains several sovereign communities in New York, Ontario, and Quebec, with its own governance structures and cultural traditions.
