Middlesex

Historic London county

Middlesex is a historic county in southeast England, once surrounding London from the north.

The name means "territory of the Middle Saxons." Though it no longer exists as an administrative unit—absorbed into Greater London and neighboring counties—Middlesex persists in postal addresses, cricket (Middlesex County Cricket Club), and institutional names.

She grew up in Middlesex before it was swallowed by the city.
