Lorentz

Electron theory pioneer

Lorentz refers to the Dutch physicist Hendrik Lorentz (1853–1928), whose work on electromagnetic theory helped lay groundwork for Einstein's special relativity.

His name appears in physics terminology: the Lorentz force acts on charged particles in electromagnetic fields, Lorentz transformations relate measurements between reference frames moving relative to each other, and the Lorentz factor quantifies time dilation and length contraction at high velocities.
