Julian Assange
Julian Assange is an Australian computer programmer and activist who founded WikiLeaks, a platform for publishing leaked government and corporate documents.
He became internationally controversial in 2010 when WikiLeaks released classified U.S. military footage and diplomatic cables.
After years of asylum in Ecuador's London embassy to avoid extradition, he was arrested in 2019.
His supporters see him as a press freedom champion; critics call him a reckless security threat.
