James Fenimore Cooper
James Fenimore Cooper was an American novelist of the early nineteenth century, best known for the Leatherstocking Tales—a series featuring the frontiersman Natty Bumppo, including *The Last of the Mohicans*.
His romanticized depictions of frontier life and Native Americans shaped how generations imagined early American wilderness and colonial conflict.
