Internet bot
Web-surfing software
An Internet bot is a software program that performs automated tasks online, often repetitive ones that would be tedious for humans.
Bots index websites for search engines, moderate content, or provide customer service via chat.
Malicious bots spread spam, scrape data, or inflate social media metrics.
On platforms like Twitter, bot often implies fake accounts pushing agendas: Half the replies were obviously bots.
