denial of service
Crash through traffic
A denial of service is an attack that overwhelms a computer system or network with traffic, making it unavailable to legitimate users.
Often abbreviated DoS, or DDoS when distributed across many attacking machines: The website went down after a massive DDoS attack.
The term extends metaphorically to any deliberate flooding that prevents normal function.
