Ike Turner

Ike Turner (1931–2007) was an American musician, bandleader, and producer whose 1951 recording "Rocket 88" is often cited as the first rock and roll record.

He gained wider fame with his wife Tina Turner in the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, known for hits like "Proud Mary." His legacy is overshadowed by documented abuse of Tina Turner, making his name shorthand for a violent partner: He seemed charming at first, but turned out to be a real Ike Turner.
