Horseshoes
Backyard tossing game
Horseshoes is a game where players toss U-shaped metal shoes at a stake in the ground, scoring points for landing close or ringing the stake.
The game takes its name from actual horseshoes—curved metal plates nailed to horses' hooves for protection.
A single horseshoe is considered lucky, often hung over doorways with ends pointing up to hold the luck in.
We played horseshoes at the cookout.
