Frenchies
Compact bat-eared dogs
Frenchies is an informal, affectionate term for French bulldogs, the compact, bat-eared breed that has become enormously popular as a companion dog.
The term reflects how owners and enthusiasts talk about the breed: Frenchies are prone to breathing problems because of their flat faces.
Less commonly, Frenchies can refer informally to French people, though this usage is rarer and context usually makes the meaning clear.
