Fishkill
Dutchess County municipality
Fishkill is a town in New York's Hudson Valley, its name derived from Dutch *vis kil* meaning "fish creek." The word *kill* appears in many Dutch-origin place names in the region—Catskill, Peekskill, Schuylkill—referring to a stream or channel.
The name has nothing to do with killing fish.
