F-14 Tomcat
Swing-wing Navy fighter
The F-14 Tomcat was a twin-engine, variable-sweep wing fighter jet flown by the U.S.
Navy from 1974 to 2006.
Designed for air superiority and fleet defense, it became iconic through the film *Top Gun*.
The variable geometry wings could sweep back for high-speed flight or extend for slower maneuvers.
Iran, the only foreign operator, still flies F-14s acquired before the 1979 revolution.
