Edward III
Hundred Years' starter
Edward III was King of England from 1327 to 1377, one of the longest reigns in English history.
He initiated the Hundred Years' War with France by claiming the French throne through his mother, and his military victories at Crécy and Poitiers established English martial prestige.
His reign saw the Black Death devastate England and the emergence of Parliament as a political force.
