Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem is a fictional action hero from a video game series that began in 1991, known for his muscular appearance, crew cut, and wisecracking machismo.
The character parodies 1980s action movie heroes, delivering one-liners while fighting aliens.
The name has become shorthand for a certain type of hyper-masculine, tongue-in-cheek bravado: He walked in with total Duke Nukem energy.
The phrase "Duke Nukem Forever" became synonymous with vaporware after the sequel spent fifteen years in development hell before its 2011 release.
