Doppler ultrasound
Vascular velocity scan
Doppler ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses sound waves to measure blood flow through vessels.
Unlike standard ultrasound, which produces still images, Doppler detects movement—specifically how blood cells reflect sound at different frequencies depending on their speed and direction.
It diagnoses circulation problems, monitors fetal heartbeats, and detects blockages: The Doppler ultrasound showed reduced flow in her carotid artery.
