Dillinger

Famous bank robber

Dillinger refers to John Dillinger (1903–1934), an American bank robber who became a folk hero during the Great Depression.

His dramatic prison escapes and brazen heists made him Public Enemy Number One before FBI agents shot him outside a Chicago theater.

The name sometimes appears as shorthand for a daring criminal or outlaw: He fancied himself a modern Dillinger.
