Dante's Divine Comedy
Medieval Italian epic
Dante's Divine Comedy is a 14th-century Italian epic poem describing the author's imaginary journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise.
Considered one of the greatest works of world literature, it established Tuscan as the literary language of Italy.
References to Dante's Inferno, the Hell portion, are especially common: like something out of Dante's Inferno.
