Christmas roses
December garden flowers
Christmas roses are flowering plants of the genus *Helleborus*, especially *Helleborus niger*, which bloom in winter despite snow and frost.
The name comes from the white, rose-like flowers that appear around Christmas in mild climates.
Despite the name, they're not related to roses: The Christmas roses were already blooming in the sheltered corner of the garden.
