Christian country
Faith-based state
A Christian country is a nation where Christianity is the dominant religion, either officially established by law or practiced by the majority of the population.
The phrase appears in debates about national identity and secularism: The founders intended this to be a Christian country.
What qualifies as "Christian" varies—some mean demographic majority, others mean constitutional establishment, still others mean cultural heritage regardless of current practice.
