Calumet

Upper Peninsula copper city

A calumet is a ceremonial pipe used by some North American Indigenous peoples, often called a peace pipe.

The long-stemmed pipe was smoked during councils, treaties, and sacred rituals, with the smoke carrying prayers or sealing agreements between parties.

The term comes from a French word for reed or tube.
